The Challenge
The client wanted a 5-story office building with open-plan floor plates, minimal interior columns, and a modern glass curtain wall facade. The building needed to achieve green building certification while meeting strict seismic requirements in northeast China.
Our Solution
We designed a steel moment-resisting frame with composite floor decks, providing 15m column-free office spans. The curtain wall attachment system was integrated into the steel frame design. Composite action between steel beams and concrete decks reduced overall steel tonnage by 18%.
